Re-Frame- An Amusement Park

This is an industrial-themed amusement park. A combination of a series of rides in re-purposed existing industrial structures and a whole new ride designed from scratch to take people through the park like a conveyor belt.

This amusement park is located on Turkey island in In Ontario Canada looking across the river towards Detroit city.

This park as opposed to most amusement parks is about slowing down life, about those special experiences that stay with you. They leave a special mark in your memory, like when you interact with a familiar phenomenon in a fresh way.

This park is using the same machines that have transformed our lives into a fast-paced routine life, almost machine-like, to help bring back the slowness, pause, and experience. All these are happening in a city full of abandoned industrial buildings. Detroit is a graveyard for abandoned industrial buildings and they are not looked upon by the people of the city in a positive way.

I generated a concept of 4 elements to organize the rides: water, earth, and fire for re-purposed rides.

And air; as a designed path that connects them all, the circulation.

A slow one-way journey to “remind” people, a sequence of events that lift you slowly from the ground and eventually leads to “flying”. ...

-Let it take you on a slow ride to flying-
